JUNIOR LAW COSTS DRAFTSMAN


Cost Law Services Limited is a specialist Cost Drafting company and we are looking for 4 Junior Law Cost Draftsman, who have experience in drafting bills on Legal Aid and Inter Partes matters to join busy teams in Chatham, Harrow, Dalston or Luton.

This will include preparing Bills in the areas of Litigation, Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Public Law, Immigration Family and Child Care matters.

The ideal candidate will have some knowledge and experience of drafting bills and also some negotiation skills. The company is looking for a Junior Law Costs Draftsman with some Legal Aid experience but, it is not essential as training can be provided.

Key Essential Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Junior Law Cost Draftsman;
  • Some experience in drafting Legal Aid bills for varied areas of law (as set out above);
  • Some experience in Costs Negotiations;
  • Have proven IT skills and ability to adapt to new technology;
  • Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills;
  •  Self-motivated to work independently and as part of a team with ‘can do attitude;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • A positive approach to working under pressure and in a busy environment;
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.

Key Tasks:

  • Drafting Inter- Partes and Legal Aid Bills ( 6 column/ 3column);
  • Drafting POD’s/ Replies;
  • Conducting Negotiations;
  • To complete post –assessment work;
  • To complete Legal Aid Claims (Claim 1’s and Claim 2’s preferred but, not essential as experience can be provided);
  • To be able to provide some advice to Clients in relation to the variety of legal costs matters;
  • Drafting statement of Costs for summary assessment;
  • Drafting of estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre-Trial Checklists;
