I am an in-house Costs Lawyer with mixed experience in personal injury and public liability, clinical negligence, commercial litigation and banking litigation. I am also a qualified solicitor.
I studied English and German Laws at the University of Liverpool, from where she graduated with honours, before completing my Legal Practice Course at the University of Nottingham.
I completed my training contract in a Legal 500 firm before qualifying as a solicitor in 2002. Whilst working in the personal injury department I obtained a Postgraduate qualification in Advanced Litigation. I qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2014.
Having worked in personal injury for a several years, during which time I undertook my own costs negotiations, I decided to specialise in the field of costs where I has been working for approximately 12 years. Prior to joining the firm, I worked for a highly reputable legal costs firm working my way from costs negotiator to Head of the Technical Department.
I have worked for both claimants and defendants and have been instructed by law firms, insurance companies, government legal departments (including the NHSLA) and litigants in person. I have worked on a wide variety of cases, from small bills to multi-million pound cases as well as technical challenges. I am experienced in drafting bills, points of dispute and replies, and handling cases from the outset through to assessment, as well as advising on potential for appeal where necessary.
I have built a strong reputation for my technical knowledge and commercial acumen, as well as for my honest and forthright approach towards both clients and my dealings with opponents. I have been commended on several occasions for my understanding of clients’ business needs and the way that I apply costs law and procedure in order to achieve the best possible results.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as reading and knitting. I also enjoy foreign travel and am currently learning Spanish.
