Charlene is a Costs Lawyer working within the Costing Department at the Dalston office. She predominately prepares inter partes bills of costs and deals with the subsequent negotiations including preparing Replies to Points of Dispute. Charlene has vast experience in Legal Aid billing including detailed Bills of Costs, High Costs Case Plans (including those remunerated under the Care Case Fee Scheme), Claim 1 forms and Claim 1A forms. Charlene has also submitted claims for payment on the Legal Aid Agency’s Client and Cost Management System.
Charlene qualified as a Costs Lawyer in April 2014 and she is a Member of the Association of Costs Lawyers’ Legal Aid Group.
Before coming to Costs Law Services Ltd in December 2015, Charlene worked at Barford Fraser Solicitors where she dealt with all aspects of family Legal Aid billing, specialising in public law and domestic abuse cases. She worked closely with the Legal Aid Agency and the firm’s management to achieve a 0% rejection rate across all offices. Prior to this, Charlene worked at Kain Knight Costs Lawyers where she started her costing career in 2009.
Outside of work Charlene enjoys cooking for friends and running, having run the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2018. In the summer she can be found at Kent Cricket Club’s home ground in Canterbury taking in the occasional match. She also enjoys watching American Football and is currently a season ticket holder for the international series held in London.
