During Arshad’s employment as a Costs Draftsman, he has adopted a pragmatic and effective approach to handling his cases which has resulted in promising settlements, for his clients. Combined with his ability to deal with a matter from cradle to grave, Arshad can give clients the assurance that all issues can be dealt with, within a timely, cost effective and professional manner.

Education

Arshad obtained an LLB (Hons) degree from Wolverhampton University in 2005 and started working in costs six months later to fund his further education. While working in costs Arshad simultaneously completed the Legal Practice Course in 2010 and has since qualified as a Cost Lawyer.

Experience

Arshad has a wealth of experience having been in costs for 12 years. He has seen many changes over that time in relation to the drafting Bills of Cost and has the ability to draw on that knowledge when providing advice both to colleagues and fee earners alike. He has worked both in-house and for external costs firms giving him a varied perspective to the role of a Law Cost Draftsman..

Career

Arshad joined Cost Law Services Limited in March 2018, having previously worked as a Law Costs Draftsman for several leading costs firms predominantly based in London. Arshad has obtained extensive experience dealing with all types of contentious costs issues. In particular preparing phased Bills of Costs and the new Electronic Bills for varied matter types including commercial, probate and negligence claims, both professional and clinical. Arshad has experience representing both the Receiving and the Paying Party at Detailed Assessments, preparing Points of Dispute, Replies to Points of Dispute, negotiating settlements on behalf of the receiving party and setting matters down for Assessment. Arshad regularly appears as an advocate in the RCJ High Court, SCCO and County Courts. Arshad is also well versed on the technical side of costs and contract law to include advices and drafting of retainers, costs issues, creative funding and strategy.

Interests

When Arshad isn’t working he spends his time with his family and friends. He enjoys watching football, boxing; playing pool and talking cars.
